Memories of Marcia

Created by Elaine one year ago

I have reflected on the memories Dad (uncle B) recalled and wrote down of his early years with both Marcia and Nadine in London’s East End, Southend on Sea and later Okehampton and I vividly recall the poignant photographs of two girls with long blond hair.

Continuing with Dad’s memories, his diaries and photographs I can recall the many breaks he and mum enjoyed with Nadine, Malcom and Marcia in their retirement years.

Of my own memories photographs prompt me to recall early summers in Cranbrook , but my most vivid memories are of the summer I worked for Malcom, stayed with Nadine and spent weekends with Grandma and Marcia.

Marcia and I spent a lot of time in her workshop making Milly Molly Mandy and Teddy Bear mobiles. On days out I drove Marcia’s car - with her encouraging me to drive faster - to check out the past. Spes at Southend on Sea; the cemetery of London, which Avril, Gareth and I visited this year as we celebrated Dad’s 100th anniversary, where Marcia and I located the family graves; the site of the Hope Iron works where it all began and Bypass Road.

These are just a few of my memories. Others will remember more. Treasure them all as you celebrate the life of Marcia.
